Svaha Update - Jan 1 2008
Just a quick note from those of us here at Svaha LLC wishing you a happy new year. Below are some updates on what we've been up to andwhat's new.New Server: In the past year we've moved from several different servers on to one bigger, faster server and we appreciate your patience during this transition. In case you're curious, even though we've gotten so good at it we have no plans for any additional moves any time soon :) Our new server has sufficient disk & CPU to last us (knock on wood) for the forseeable future.
New Hosting Plans: Many of you will be receiving your annual bills from us shortly and you may notice some pleasant changes in our hosting plans. We've moved almost all clients to our $5/month plan (provided you pay in a one year block of $60). The handful of sites that don't fit in the 1 GB disk space & 5 GB of bandwidth limits of that plan are still being hosted at rates much cheaper than our previous $15/month Business Plan. We now only bill for whatever disk space or bandwidth your site needs and we now provide all the other options (additional domains, e-mail accounts, mailing lists, etc.) at no extra charge. New Website: You'll also note our website is now completely redesigned thanks to Erik, our newest Svaha LLC partner. Take a look and drop us a note if you have any suggestions on what we should provide on our site.
Security Changes: One change we've just made today (January 1) is the removal of shell access for all accounts. For 99% of you this will make no difference and it's possible you don't know what 'shell access' even is. If you do know what this is and need it it's available by request at no extra charge. We will also be doing a password audit soon so you may receive a note from us in the next few weeks letting you know your password needs to be updated to something more secure. If you suspect your password isn't very safe you can change your password via your cpanel login at https://lightning.svaha.com:2083/frontend/x3/passwd/index.html
We will also be testing some web server security features in the near future and will be informing you of our testing dates so you can test your site for any problems that may result from this. We will give you at least a weeks notice before any tests and will also be monitoring the error logs to address any problems immediately.
Our new server provides many new features you might not be familiar with and our advice and support is always free so don't be shy. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or if you need any assistance in updating or revising your site.
